Providing maximum flexibility and comprehensive benefits in the workplace can positively impact employee engagement.
According to the 2024 Public Health Workforce Interests and Needs Survey (PH WINS), nearly half of employees work fully in-person, though only 21% of employees want to. Almost 9 in 10 employees said the ability to flex time is an important policy, and 77% said an ad-hoc remote work policy is important.
Many public health agencies are not responsible for the policies that govern benefits, but they can control how policies are implemented and can also advocate for change. For that reason, many of the resources provided on this page can be used to make the case for improved flexibility, pay, or benefits with decision makers.
