I believe that fostering open dialogues and telling narratives are the most powerful tools we have to create change.
Three words to describe me:
calm, empathetic, adventurous
The best part of my job:
working at the city level during COVID and how it allowed me to see the direct impacts of my work in the community
Something that would surprise others about me:
I have my high speed driver's license and raced Corvettes with my dad when I was younger.
Carolyn joined the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) in 2018 with the Public Health Lab. She served many roles throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, including setting up the first COVID testing site, providing administrative support for the Surveillance and Epidemiology unit, overseeing vaccine operations, and serving as a deputy lead for the Immunization Justice Workgroup to create supportive spaces for staff.
Carolyn is the SURRG Epidemiology Coordinator and participates in equity and social justice workgroups at DOHMH. Before DOHMH, Carolyn worked on tuberculosis programs with the U.S. Agency for International Development and served in the Peace Corps. She earned her MPH at Johns Hopkins University.
