Akeem is the Government Affairs Director for CityHealth. Prior to joining CityHealth, Akeem served as the Director of the Committee on Education for the Council of the District of Columbia. In this role, Akeem set the legislative, budget, and performance oversight agenda for all education agencies in the District of Columbia. Prior to this, his work focused on school turnaround efforts.

As a 2008 Greater New Orleans Teach For America Corps Member, Akeem taught in New Orleans schools before working for TFA-New Orleans as a Manager Corps and Partner Relations.

He holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and English from Mercer University.
