40 Under 40 Class of 2025
Oakland, CaliforniaRegional Capacity Building Coordinator
California Department of Public Health, STD Control Branch
If I were to name any ambition for myself in my role in public health and beyond, it would be to serve as a bridge between worlds: a representative for communities unevenly affected by stigma and other social determinants of health.
Three words to describe me:
Adaptable, intentional, irreverent
The best part of my job:
The best part of my role with CDPH is being supported in bringing my strengths to the table. I've been encouraged to develop subject matter expertise for hepatitis C (HCV) and now lead programmatic technical assistance efforts for HCV and facilitate office hours for local health jurisdictions statewide. My supervisors and colleagues have made me feel like my perspective is valuable, and that my experiences are an asset.
Something that would surprise others about me:
I am forklift certified!
